Hi! My name is Andrea Perrone and I am SO happy to be aboard the OCE ship as your Music Teacher. To the left is a picture of the beautiful sunset in my former neighborhood in Edenton, NC. I now live out in tiny Carrboro, soaking up the woodsy wonder and laid-back life in the backyard.
I was born in Connecticut and lived in snowy New England all my life. Since I wasn't quite ready to say goodbye to the snow yet, I attended Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY (where the beautiful waterfalls and gorges are!) where I studied Music Education with a vocal emphasis. While in college, some of my favorite courses were Multicultural Perspectives of Music Education, Education for Social Change, African American Popular Music, and African Drumming and Dance. I hope to engage students in the same diverse music education I was fortunate enough to receive as a way to help us connect to others and explore the world.
When I am not making music in the classroom, I love being active outdoors hiking and camping, exploring new places, reading, playing games (especially trivia and word games...I'm pretty competitive!), and seeing live music. I am also a member of Jaded Vocals, an a cappella group that performs around the Triangle!
