Hi! My name is Andrea Perrone and I am SO happy to be aboard the OCE ship as your Music Teacher. Before moving to Raleigh, where I live now, I spent 2 years teaching in Washington County while living near the coast in beautiful Edenton, NC!
I was born in Connecticut and lived in snowy New England all my life. To keep up the snowy trend, I attended Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY (where the beautiful waterfalls and gorges are!) where I studied Music Education with a vocal emphasis. While in college, some of my favorite courses were Multicultural Perspectives of Music Education, Education for Social Change, African American Popular Music, and African Drumming and Dance. I hope to engage students in the same diverse music education I was fortunate enough to receive as a way to help us connect to others and explore the world.
When I am not making music in the classroom, I love being active outdoors hiking and camping, exploring new places, reading, playing games (especially trivia and word games...I'm pretty competitive!), and seeing live music. I am also a member of Jaded Vocals, an a cappella group that performs around the Triangle!
